Rose Cecelia Murray, or Cecelia to her family and friends, was born on August 14th, 1930 in North Dakota to John and Margaret (Gesinger) Bachmeier. She attended school in North Dakota along with her three brothers and two sisters. She married and settled in Oklahoma to raise her son and three daughters. First and foremost, Cecelia was a devout woman of God. She was a tireless prayer warrior and lived to serve the Lord. Everything else, was family! Plain and simple. She built her world around raising her children and caring for the precious little children entrusted to her care. They had a guardian angel in “Cil”. They learned routines, order, neatness, and most important of all, love. When she wasn’t caring for the countless number of children she helped to raise, she was home. She made phenomenal chicken noodle soup, apple pie, stuffing, and her grandchildren’s favorite, double grilled cheese sandwiches, as only grandma could make them. She loved to travel and had recently made a pilgrimage, with her daughter Deana, to visit all of her siblings with a “shortcut” to the Grand Canyon. Eating out was a special treat for Cecelia, and there was always room for dessert. She walked daily. She was always willing to help where she was needed most, and volunteered at Help-In-Crisis, Encore, and as a Eucharistic Minister, delivering Communion to those who were sick or unable to get to church. She worked at Oasis health foods in Tahlequah, where her smile and expertise was always welcome. She was patient, kind and above all, loving to everyone she came in contact with. She was a Roman Catholic by faith and a member of St. Anthony’s in Okmulgee and St. Brigid in Tahlequah. The Lord called his good and faithful servant home on Friday, January 18th, 2013 in Tahlequah, OK with her family close by her side. Cecelia was 82 years old. Her greatest gift, to those who knew and loved her, was to do the ordinary things in life with great love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Francis Gilbert of Portland, OR and one brother, Bennie Bachmeier of Las Angeles, CA.
Those left to remember a very special lady include her children, Deana Franke and husband Mike of Tahlequah, OK, Paula Day of Tulsa, OK, David Murray of Tahlequah, and Melanie Medearis of Tahlequah.
