Rosie Mae Rossignol was born November 13th, 1943 at her home in Welling, daughter of Willie and Minnie (Handle) Jumper. Rosie was raised, along with her eight brothers and five sisters, with an appreciation of their Native American culture and she continued to speak the Cherokee language fluently throughout her life. After obtaining her GED, she earned an associates in horticulture at Flaming Rainbow University. She worked various jobs throughout her life, lastly serving as a cook foreman for Sequoyah High School before her retirement. Rosie was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed cheering on her grandkids, nieces and nephews at their high school ball games and watch some of her favorite teams like the Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder. She enjoyed time fishing, playing solitaire and never missed an episode of General Hospital; not to mention tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Rosie’s family looked forward to her homecooking, like her potato salad, chicken and dumplings, biscuits and gravy, pies and beans and fry bread was her favorite. She was of the Baptist faith, attending Liberty Freewill Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. When her health no longer allowed her to attend, she would faithfully listen to sermons online and often went to local gospel singing. On Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, Rosie was called from this life at the age of 79 years old with family by her side. Her sweet spirit and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
