Ruby Gower was born on Tuesday, March 23rd, 1926 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Ired and Millie (Springer) Raley. She was raised at home with her sister and brothers, Doris, Marshal, Goldie and Odie. She attended school for awhile and then decided to marry the love of her life and her best friend, Euel Gower. Together they raised three sons and one daughter, Doris Gower and wife Melissa of Stone Chapel, Jimmie Gower and wife Bertie of Qualls, Earl Gower of Qualls, and Dorothy E. Box. After her first husband passed, she married Elmo Bartlett, he precedes her in death. Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was not one to sit, she was always busy. She loved being outdoors and loved working in her garden and yard, both were immaculate. She was wonderful in the kitchen and made the best plum jelly for her family and friends to enjoy. It didn’t matter if she was cleaning or cooking, she would probably be found listening to Elvis while she worked. There was nothing that was more precious to Ruby than her grand and great grandchildren, she adored them and was always their biggest fan. Any time the grandchildren were around, Ruby was happiest. She had a smile that lit up the room and was always making sure you felt welcome in her home. She was a farmer thru and thru. She loved the rising sun and the chance of a new day on the farm. There was no place she would rather be. Her health began to fail her and the Lord called this kind and gentle woman home from her labors on Monday, October 1st, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK with those she loved close by her side, she was 92 years old. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, first husband, Euel Gower, second husband Elmo Bartlett, two brothers, Doris Raley and Marshal Raley, her beloved daughter, Dorothy E. Box, and two sisters, Goldie Raley and Odie Raley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Doris, Jimmie, and Earl and nine grandchildren, Scott Gower, Wayne Gower, Jimmy Gower, Lisa Trammel, Colin Girdner, Aaron Gower, Alan Gower, Deborah LaGrone and Roger Box. She lives on in her 36 great and 12 great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
