Virginia Ruth (Moore) Barton was born August 22nd, 1935 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of James and Lucinda (Smith) Moore. Her family left Oklahoma in 1942 and moved to Marysville, CA. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Wayne D. Barton, on September 11, 1952. Ruth, Wayne and their two children later made their way back to Tahlequah in 1978. Once she was back in Tahlequah, she began working for TG&Y before starting her job with Wal-Mart in the early 1980’s. During her time there, she served as a department manager. Ruth was very involved in the various fund raisers for Children’s Miracle Network sponsored by the store. She first retired from Wal-Mart in 1999 in order to care for her husband until his passing a few months afterwards. She resumed her position at Tahlequah Wal-Mart for a short while, before she transferred to the location in Wichita, KS where she lived with her daughter and her family. She finally retired in 2007. Ruth loved cooking and baking for family and friends. She was an excellent baker and loved spending time with her grandchildren making cookies, cobblers and her famous banana bread. Ruth possesses an amazing strength, kind heart, gentle sweet spirit and her loving servant’s heart. Ruth truly reflected the love of Christ to everyone. She showed her love for the Lord by loving and serving others. Ruth went to be with Jesus in the early morning of February 9th, 2019. She left this world quietly and peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her. She will be remembered for her humor, grace, love and beauty.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, all her brothers and sisters and her husband.
