Sally Ann Hicks-Adcock was born on October 27th, 1957 at the Old Hastings Hospital, the daughter of Tom and Ellen (Ballew) Hicks. She grew up with her four brothers and two sisters, Jodi, Tommy, Wiley, Lena, Leroy and Alvin. She attended school and graduated then began her studies to get her teaching certificate. She would later return to school and get a second degree in Horticulture. She was an energetic, person with a genuine love of life. When she wasn’t working, she could be found at home, working in her garden, sewing on a project, watching crime shows on TV, baking in the kitchen and the best, chasing her grandchildren around the yard. She had soulful expressive eyes that lit up when she was amused. She was the proud mother of two daughters and one son, Martha, Vanessa, and Nathaniel. They in turn helped her to spend hours with her five adored grandchildren. There was no such problem as too much time with Scott, Justin, Robert, Noah and Mila. Sally had a special interest in educating young people about Native American culture in her classes. Helping them to learn and grow was always a highlight of her day, and she counted her teaching at Sequoyah as one of her favorite times. Sally was l always ready to go meet her friends at the casino and spend a little time laughing and enjoying the evening. Her health failed her and she never was able to recover her strength. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 following an extended illness. She was 62 years old. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her maternal grandparents, Jeff Ballew and Janie Dick Phillips, one brother, Tommy Hicks, two sisters, Lena Christie and Jodi Espinoza and one very special grandson, Justin Sixkiller. Her memory will be kept by her children, Martha and husband Michael Sixkiller of Park Hill, OK, Vanessa Skaggs and husband JT of Checotah, OK and Nathaniel Barnoskie and wife Magen of Ft. Gibson, OK. She also leaves three brothers, Wiley Hicks of Park Hill, Leroy Hicks and wife Patricia of Park Hill, OK, and Alvin Hicks and wife Donna of Tahlequah, OK. Her five grandchildren include Michael Scott Sixkiller, Robert Swimmer Skaggs, Noah Jacob Barnoskie, and Mila Grace Barnoskie. There are also a great many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
