

Sam spent her life making things and people beautiful. As a cosmetologist, she took pride in helping others look and feel their best. Creative to her core, she loved making jewelry, painting, and crafting, there wasn’t much she couldn’t do with her hands. Those who knew Sam will remember her humor, her quick wit, and the way she showed affection through her words.
She is survived by her mother, Nelda Bird of Hulbert, OK and step-father William Wayne Bird of Chewey, OK, her longtime partner, Dan Helvy, daughters; Clara Marie Hornett, Amanda Marie Hornett, Destiny Marai Barnes, Lila Helvy, and Patience Helvy; three brothers, Jonathan Lewis Althaus, Frank James Bird, and John Wayne Bird; one sister, Sierra McDonald; and two grandchildren, Jace Jeremiah Miller and Josiah Thompson Miller.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Blaine Herndon; one sister, Diana Marie Althaus Snyder; and one brother, David Andrew Althaus.
Sam will be remembered for her laughter, creativity, and the love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and beauty that will live on through those who loved her most.
