Sandra Kay Chism

Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Sandra “Kay” Chism will be held on Friday, November 9th, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend vernell Racy and Reverend Walter Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Ross Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK. Visitation for Kay will be held on Thursday, November 8th, 2012 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at Reed-Culver Chapel.

Pallbearers for Kay include her son, Larry Chastain, Michael Littlejohn, Christopher Whitaker, Alex McDonald, Fred Hall, Dominique McDonald, and Thedale Gaines. Flower girls for Kay include Deborah Armstrong, Belinda Clayton, Miltyanna Maxey, Patricia Reed, and Ladayazha K. Jewel Fox.

Sandra “Kay” Chism was born on January 1st, 1957 in Cherokee County, OK, the daughter of John and Thelma (McDonald) Chism. She attended school in Hulbert, OK. She was the mother of one son, Larry Chastain, and one daughter, Felicia Gandy. She worked as a child care provider for years. Whenever she had time off, Kay was to be found with her family and friends enjoying life to its fullest. She loved life and everything in it, especially people. She was blessed with a fantastic sense of humor and shared her smile with everyone she met. Kay was gifted in the kitchen, she made the best pot roast, fried potatoes, okra, noodles and anything else her family desired. She could join any political discussion and debate with the best of them. She enjoyed shopping and relaxing with a good TV show. A Baptist by faith, Kay was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. The Lord called Kay to her eternal home on November 1st, 2012 at her home in Tahlequah, OK with her family by her side. Kay was 55 years old. She is already missed by her many family and friends.

Kay is preceded in death by her Dad, John in 1978, and two brothers, Cecil and Bobby Chism.

Those left to cherish Kay’s memory include her mother, Thelma McDonald of Tahlequah, her son Larry Chastain of Tahlequah, and her daughter Felicia of Tulsa, OK. Her brothers and sisters include Johnny Chism and wife Carol of Tahlequah, OK, Floyd McDonald of Wagoner, OK, Cleveland McDonald and Jamesina Williams of Broken Arrow, OK, Glendale Chism of Tahlequah, OK, Rosie Jones of Tahlequah, OK, Tammy McDonald of Tahlequah, OK, Michael Chism of Muskogee, Gary Chism of Wagoner, OK, Alex McDonald of Wagoner, OK, Autumn McDonald of Wagoner, OK., and Kyle McDonald of Wagoner, OK. Kay’s legacy lives on in her four grandchildren, Demetria Gandy of Tulsa, OK, Brandon Gandy of Tulsa, OK., Aquila Gandy of Tulsa, OK., and Courtney Wacoche of Muskogee, OK. Theres is one great grandchild, Aniyah Gaines of Tulsa. OK and a new great grandchild to arrive later this year. Kay leaves her step-father, Casey McDonald of Wagoner as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
