Scott was truly a jack-of-all-trades. Throughout his life, he worked a variety of jobs, while living in Arizona he worked at a Paint Supply Warehouse and Shamrock Foods warehouse as a manager. Eventually, he found his calling in flooring. He took great pride in his work and truly enjoyed what he did, putting his heart into every job.
Scott had a curious mind and loved to read. He could pick up a book about almost anything, but especially enjoyed learning about world events and politics. He was a fan of old Western movies, wrestling, and old country music. He attended many concerts over the years and enjoyed the music, memories, and experiences that came with them.
At heart, Scott was a country boy who loved the outdoors. When he was younger, he enjoyed going to the river and riding bikes, and that love of the outdoors stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping, especially gathering around a campfire with good company and a cold one in hand.
Scott was always willing to lend a hand. He especially enjoyed helping his grandpa take care of his land and helping around his house. He had a generous spirit and could always be counted on when someone needed help.
Those who knew Scott will remember his ornery sense of humor and the way he loved giving his nieces and nephews a hard time. They loved to pester him by calling him “Scotty Watty,” a nickname that became one of those little family traditions that brought laughter and fond memories. He wasn’t afraid of much of anything and lived life in his own way.
Scott treasured the relationships he shared with his children, Shelby, Ryan, and Brynn Yanez. He also remained connected to Melissa, his former wife of 16 years, through the enduring love they shared for their children and the family they created together. Though their marriage came to an end, the bond of family remained an important part of their lives.
Scott later married Janita (Fields) Yanez and remained devoted to her until her passing. Their years together, along with his role in the lives of his stepchildren, Spencer and Justice Huffman brought him great joy and fulfillment. Janita's memory remained close to his heart throughout the years that followed.
But perhaps, nothing brought Scott greater joy than the time he spent with his granddaughter, Brooklynn. She held a very special place in his heart, and the memories they made together will be treasured forever.
On October 1, 2026, Scott passed from this life at the age of 57. He leaves behind those who will miss him deeply and carry his memory with them always.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, EW and Evelyn Richmond and two aunts, Susan Burr and Saundra Richmond.
