
Shelby Dean Morgan, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant, passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age of 93. Born June 12, 1932, in Buda, Texas, Shelby was the son of Shelby Andrew Morgan and Mildred (Jones) Morgan. He lived a life marked by service, strength, and unwavering dedication to both his country and his family.
Shelby proudly served in the United States Army for 28 years, including during the Korean War. His military career took him across the world, including time spent in Germany and South Korea; experiences he carried with pride and often shared through his gift of storytelling.
A man of deep faith, Shelby served as a Southern Baptist deacon and Sunday school teacher at multiple churches, including Skyline Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas; First Baptist Church of Dunnellon, Florida; and Florence Street Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His faith was not just something he spoke about, it was something he lived daily. Shelby found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved music and dancing, was an avid reader and lifelong learner, and enjoyed tinkering and building military models. Fluent in Spanish, he connected easily with others and never met a stranger for long. Known as a jokester, Shelby had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Above all, Shelby was a family man. He was deeply proud of his role as a husband, father, and grandfather, and his love for his family was evident in everything he did.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Mae Morgan; his parents; his son, Alan Dean Morgan; his daughter, Rosanna Mae Videto; his brother, Cecil Morgan; his sister, Lola Embrey; and grandchildren Morgan Bush and Meghan Howard.
Shelby is survived by his daughters, Janet Bush of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Maura Burgess and husband Spencer, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jeremy Bush and partner Jamie of Grove City, Ohio; Shaina Silverman and husband Chris of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Jacob Burgess of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Spencer Burgess of Bremerton, Washington; his great-grandchildren: Ayden Bush, Emma Bush, McKenna Bush, Dallas Bush, Mackenzie Silverman, Charli Silverman, Rori Silverman, and Johnny Crafts.
Shelby will be remembered as a faithful servant of the Lord, a proud veteran, a storyteller, and a man who loved deeply and lived fully. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.
