Stanley Eugene Soap, or Duke to his many family and friends, was born on January 25th, 1971 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Crawford and Lucille (Henson) Soap. He was raised with one brother, Stephen and two sisters, Paula and Rachel. He grew up in the Hulbert and Tahlequah communities, and graduated high school there. He worked at Danny’s Muffler changing and maintaining tires. When the work was all done, he was going fishing, or headed to the sale barn to get animals, anything from rabbits to chickens, he liked them all. He was the best uncle in the world and never missed the chance to support his nieces and nephews in all the sports they played. When it came to sports, he supported the OU Sooners and the Raiders, they were his favorite. He liked watching TV, and enjoyed Bible Mystery, Big Red, and WWE Wrestling. Duke enjoyed a pork chop and a good piece of fry bread while watching a Bible mystery like “The Marksman”. The show reminded him of his favorite friend, Si-quo-ya, they were the best of friends. Duke was a big teddy bear, always smiling and making jokes, never failing to talk to everyone, he had no strangers in his life. His family was very special to him and he loved gathering for holidays and seeing everyone. A Baptist by faith, he attended First Baptist Church in Summit, OK. Life ended all too soon for Duke on July 24th, 2023 in Tahlequah, OK. Duke was 52 years old and will be greatly missed by all the people that called him friend.
Duke is preceded in death by his grandparents, Looney and Sakie (Bread) Henson, and Sah-Nee Soap and wife Rachel (Glass) Soap, and his mother and father.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother and sisters, Stephen Soap of Stilwell, OK, Paula Soap of Tahlequah, and Rachel Soap-Gregory and husband William of Stilwell, OK. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Jeremy McLemore of Owasso, Corie Soap of Tahlequah, Yona Gregory of Tahlequah, Shelby Gregory of Stilwell, OK, and his special little friend, Si-Quo-Ya Hooper of Tahlequah, as well as many friends and church family too numerous to mention.
