Terry was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and immigrated to the USA on Halloween 1946. He grew up in Warren, Michigan; graduated Cum Laude from Adrian College in 1966 and earned his MD from the University of Oklahoma in 1970. He became Unitarian Universalist in 1968, just before marrying Barbara Ann Baldwin in the VA chapel in Oklahoma City on April 5th, 1969. They graduated together, twice: first with their degrees in 1970 and again with their master's degrees in May 2008.
He served as Chief of Dermatology at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and later, as an Army physician, at Landstuhl, Germany during the first Gulf War, retiring in 1993. He raised five children — three biological and two adopted. While still in college he founded the Michael Kelly Thompson Memorial Scholarship at Adrian College, named for a fraternity brother killed in Vietnam; it has awarded scholarships for over fifty years. He and Barb also funded a young woman through six years of medical school in Nicaragua, where she practices today as an obstetrician in her home village.
In 2005, he entered Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley. He was ordained as a UU minister on August 8th, 2008, what would have been his father's 100th birthday. He preached in 15 pulpits across the country and the Virgin Islands. He traveled to all the newly elected "Wonders of the World" and, by his own count, 255 countries and territories. He and Barb moved to the Army Residence Community in San Antonio, Texas in 2011, where he continued to live with curiosity, conviction, and love until the end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Andrew Robinson, and by his infant son, Aaron Todd Robinson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann; his daughters, Drue Timperley in Washington, Sarahlyn Tasha in Florida, and Anne Taryn and her husband, Mike Siebenaler, in Ohio; grandson Chan Andy via adopted Korean son Ahn Trevor and his wife Haejin in Korea; and two granddaughters, Ayana Simone and Caryn Jahzara, via his adopted African American daughter, Arianna Tianyzu, in Georgia.
