

Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Thomas William “Sonny” Keener will be held on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend Bobby Botts officiating. Interment will follow at Keener Cemetery near Hulbert, OK. Visitation is Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 at Reed-Culver Chapel from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Pallbearers for Sonny include Rodney Teague, Titus Blanket, Rocky Masters, Sid Whitekiller, Buster Gifford, and Choogie Keener. Honorary pallbearers include Lee Springwater, Jayson Doyle, Leland Sweptson, Tony Ballou, Jimmy Canoe, Bryce Brehon, Mitch Bright, Jordan Canoe, Chris Jenkins, and Sonny Springwater.
Sonny Keener was born on December 16th, 1964 at the WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, OK the son of Thomas Roach and Marian Marie (Canoe) Keener. He attended school at Hulbert, then he attended electrical trade school. Sonny loved horse racing, coon hunting, and playing baseball. He enjoyed a day spent at the creek, or watching OU play football and watching his friends and family have a good time together. He was quick with a joke and had a wonderful sense of humor and the laugh to go with it. He found the simple pleasure of a beautiful sunrise or sunset to be the best gifts of all. Sonny was a Christian by faith and was called to his eternal home on Friday, September 30th, 2011 in Tahlequah, Ok with his loved ones by his side. He was 46 years old. He will be missed by all those who knew him well.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers and sister, Jimmy Canoe and wife Tammy of Dallas, TX, Wyanetta Springwater and husband Lee of Tahlequah, OK, and Fabian Keener of Hulbert, OK, and Radine Hair of Hulbert, OK. Sonny had two very special people in his life, Kayla and Kyler Crittenden both of Lost City, OK. His nieces include Crystal Bright and husband Mitch, January and husband Jayson Doyle, Ashley Canoe, and Shelby Canoe . His nephews are Rocky Masters and fiancé Amber Hunter, and Jordan Canoe. He has great nieces, Meghan Bright, Micah Bright, Brooklyn Doyle, Hannah Doyle, and Daylan Doyle. His great nephew is Bryce Alan Brehon. He lives on in the memories of his many cousins and friends he has made while on this journey.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Gilmore, Dr. Yandell, and Dr. Miller, Debra Smoke and all of the Cherokee Hospice , Home Health, and Grace Living Center staff for the wonderful care given to Sonny.
