Valerie Christine Spottedbird began this life, as the daughter of Jimmie White and Laura (Robbins) White, on Valentine’s Day February 14, 1956 in Tahlequah, OK. A very fitting day for her to enter this world as she quickly captures the hearts of anyone that takes the time to know her. After high school she attended college and was involved in many different organizations. She was the secretary to the president of SMU, she was the editor of the Cheyenne/Arapaho newspaper, she worked for OIO, Oklahomans for Indian Opportunity. She was also a member of the Indian Business Women’s Association. She loved to travel and attend concerts with David. But the love for family took first place and Valerie became a Homemaker truly enjoying time spent with her family and keeping a place that was always home. She was a member of DD Etchieson Indian United Methodist Church in Tahlequah. She was one of the kindest people you could ever meet and she always made sure her grandchildren, nieces and nephews knew how much they meant to her. She had a special relationship with her grandson Matthew and was his Big Grandma. Valerie found rest in her God on June 24, 2022 as he called her home from her labors in Tahlequah, OK with her family at her side. All her family and friends will dearly miss her.
Those meeting her at the gates of heaven include her parents, three brothers; James White, David White, and John White, and two sisters; Lila Ann Robedeaux, and Sharon Yell.
Left carry on her memory include her son Jimi White of Tahlequah, OK, three sisters; Nancy Bailey of Owasso, OK, Susie Barchus of Tahlequah, OK, and Billie White of Tahlequah, OK, and two grandchildren Lila Ann, and Weston Watie White of Tahlequah, OK. And many nieces, nephews, and cousins considered sisters and brothers.
