Velma Sue Scott Davis was born on September 2nd, 1941 in Claremore, OK, the daughter of Joe and Julia (King) Scott. She grew up in a household with five brothers and one sister, John, Jerry, Robert, Randy, Richard, and Brenda. She attended school in Wickliffe School in Mayes County. She would meet and marry her best friend, Tiie Davis on November 20th, 1968, in Miami, OK. This union was blessed with three sons and three daughters, Patricia, Pam, Gregory, Jeffery, Tammy and Brian. Velma was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved to sit down and recount her childhood in Kenwood, she loved it. Growing up, Velma developed a close relationship with God, and her faith in Him sustained her throughout her lifetime. She called Long Prairie Baptist Church home and she served in the WMU, served as church secretary, quilted with the church sewing group, and always enjoyed gathering for special occasions and meals. When she was at home, she made her family the best beans and fry bread, and always fed anyone at the table. She could sew anything and specialized in quilting. She loved sharing a cup of coffee with her friends and family, especially Aunt Rosie, and they could speak fluently in Cherokee. Velma had a sense of humor, but was usually on the quiet side, taking in all the activity around her. Her husband Tiie passed from this life in 1985, and Velma remained with her family, watching her grandchildren grow. She enjoyed collecting jewelry, gathering her family for the holidays and chasing the grandkids around the house. She enjoyed going out to eat and then taking a long drive around the countryside, relaxing and seeing the scenery. She passed from this life in Fayetteville, AR on January 13th, 2021 with her loved ones by her side. Velma was 79 years old and will never be replaced.
Velma has gone home to join her loved ones, grandparents Tom and Lena (Fodder) King, Cumming and Carrie (Alexander) Scott, her mother and father, her husband Tiie, brothers John and Jerry Scott, and brother-in-law Woodward “Woody” Hair.
