Heaven shines brighter, and our world is dimmer with the passing of Velma Perdue, age 89, of Voorhees, NJ who passed on peacefully to be with the Lord on June 14, 2018. Velma was born on September 18, 1928 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Homer and Ruby Tefertiller. She was the oldest of six children. She loved Oklahoma as much as she loved her family. She lived her final 17 years in New Jersey and was always happy to tell others that when she passed on, her earthly body would be buried in Oklahoma soil-the best in the world. Velma was a devoted and daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She loved to read, especially the Bible, garden and attract birds to her beautiful garden. Most of all, Velma spent her life caring for and serving others. She truly had a heart for those less fortunate than her and took great joy in serving in the name of Jesus.
She is survived by her son Mark Perdue, her daughter Pam Goen, her brother Edward Tefertiller and his wife Karen Tefertiller, her sister-in-law Waynell Tefertiller, her grandchildren Aaron Perdue, Nate Goen, Amanda Goen Conrad, Garrett Perdue, Rachel Perdue and JaLynn Perdue, her daughter-in-laws Jamie and Wendy, her son-in-law Bret, her best friend and roommate Eunice Foxworth along with many nieces and nephews and friends. She is now reunited with her loving mother and father, husband Elmer, and her siblings Ken Tefertiller, Bob Tefertiller, Homer Tefertiller and Elsie Yager along with many friends who have gone on before. She loved and cherished each of you.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides that cared for Velma for so many years-your love and attention to her over the years is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
A graveside service and burial will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Cookson-Proctor Cemetery in Cookson, Oklahoma with Mr. Lloyd Coppedge officiating. Reed-Culver Funeral Home is in charge of her arrangements.
