Veronica Mae “Ronni” Young was born on May 2nd, 1949 in the old Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, OK, to William Alexander and Jackline (Quinton) Skinner. She grew up with two brothers and three sisters, Martha, Jim, Sue, Jessie, and Christine. She grew up around Tahlequah, Briggs and Bagley High School in California. She loved to go hunting and fishing when she was young, and this hobby stayed with her all of her adult life as well. When she completed high school, she attended college and became a Secretary Bookkeeper. She started a family with her beloved daughter, Billi. Together there was nothing they couldn’t do. She was never sitting down, after her work all day as a Secretary/Bookkeeper. She was always in the kitchen cooking, and her best delights included her fried chicken with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and chicken and dumplings as only Ronni could make. There was nothing more relaxing than curling up to watch a good movie, “Fried Green Tomatoes” was her all time favorite. She was an avid reader and an avid follower of Dean Koontz and Nora Roberts. One by one as her grandchildren joined this loving family, she couldn’t wait to love them and teach them about her Native Heritage, of which she was so very proud. She was a Christian by faith, and attended both Cedar Tree Tabernacle and Welling General Baptist Church. She loved her church families and couldn’t wait for them to have dinner and gospel singing. She enjoyed praising the Lord immensely. She was funny, quick witted, feisty and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was also able to enjoy the view from her own backyard, and the quiet time that went with it. It was probably because she had survived breast cancer that she understood that life is precious and time is fleeting. Every moment with a grand or great grandchild was pure gold to Ronni. Ronni hadn’t always known an easy life, she had lost all of her brothers and sisters and Mom and Dad. Yet this gave her comfort knowing someday they would all be together again. They reunited on May 27th, 2025 for the grand reunion with Ronni leaving Tahlequah with her loved ones by her side. She was 76 years old. She will be greatly missed for the love she shared so freely and the smiles she brought to each face.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, all of her brothers and sisters, Martha Skinner Collins, Jim Skinner, Sue Skinner Mousseau, Jessie Skinner and Christina Skinner, as well as her beloved first husband, Dewey Carloss.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Billi Munnell of Pryor, OK and her grandchildren, Jesika Fuson and husband Mitchell Fuson of Stilwell, OK, and Skyler Johnson and husband James Johnson of Tahlequah, OK, and Her former husband Leroy Young of Tahlequah, OK. She will live on in her great grandchildren, ShaNeal Kirk, Shelby Fuson, Eryk Rigney, Caleb Fuson, all of Stilwell, and Alex Reeder, Kira Reeder, Camilla Johnson and LJ Johnson all of Tahlequah, OK.
