Wally began life’s journey on March 27th, 1935 in Bowlegs, OK. The son of Wilson Lewis and Leona (Carroll) Horner. His journey took him many places in his life, one of the greatest places being Orange Cove, CA, on September 23, 1955, where he married the love of his life Wilma Jean McFarland. Their marriage was blessed with three children and 49 dedicated, amazing years, until Wilma’s passing in 2005. Wally was dedicated to everything he did, understanding that punctuality and dependability were very important. He did not tolerate tardiness from anyone. More than once he walked to work when his car wouldn’t run, and arrived on time. Wally was a very cheerful and loving man that was always quick to share his opinion, and explain why yours was incorrect. To relax a little he enjoyed going to the horse races, watching the kids play ball, or stock car race. It seemed as though everything was a race to Wally, even meal time, and there was always a loser and a winner. He once entered a stick horse race with one of his grandchildren, of course they won, and he was sure to let everyone know about it. He was a very active and enjoyed a day outside in the garden, taking the time to smell the roses that he liked so much. Wally thoroughly enjoyed life’s journey, and the friends he made along the way, including his beloved dog “Sally”. He had two loves in his life the first being his loving wife Wilma, and the second being meal time. He absolutely loved eating and nothing was better to him than a nice hot Sonic Cheeseburger. When the day had ended and it was time to turn in you could find him resting comfortably in his recliner, as the bed didn’t seem comfortable enough to suit him. Wally was an extraordinary man that made his life into an exciting journey his friends and family will never forget. He finished the final steps of his journey, in true Wally fashion, perfectly on time Valentine’s Day February 14, 2019 to join his true love, Wilma, once again.
Those that completed the journey before him include his parents, his wife, one son Jerry “Dee” Horner, and one brother Chief Horner.
His legacy will live on through his children Rocky Horner and wife Liz of Peggs, OK and Jeannie Anderson and husband Seth of Salina, OK, one sister-in-law Jeanette Roger of Locust Grove, OK eight Grandchildren, 18 Greatgrandchildren, and one great great grandchild on the way, as well as many other friends, family and loved ones.
