

Funeral services for William “Sonny” Lee Thompson will be held Tuesday, October 24th, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel with Brother James Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow at Thompson Family Cemetery in Oil Springs. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 23rd, 2017 beginning at 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. William “Sonny” Lee Thompson, 84 year old, resident of Oil Springs, Oklahoma, died October 19th, 2017 at Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Sonny was born on May 21st, 1933, in Oil Springs, OK, the son of son of Ketcher and Laura Lee (Foreman) Thompson. The family lived in the Proctor area and the children attended school there. In 1952, Sonny was up in Lamar, CO working as a cowpuncher when he was enlisted into the US Army. He served in the United States Army in the 75th Artillery Btry and fought in the Korean War, attaining the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct. After he received his honorable discharge, he returned home to marry his best friend and the love of his life, Patsy Sue Kelley on May 23, 1964. Together they enjoyed 53 years of love, laughter, and life, raising four children together, Laura, Angela, Melissa and Dallas. He was a carpenter all his life. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed riding his lawn mower, watching his OU Sooner play football, and Dallas Cowboys but most of all, he enjoyed Sunday dinners and time spent with his family. He leaves a legacy of a loving man that dedicated everything he had to his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ketcher and Laura Thompson, one brother J. Berry Thompson, two sisters Ella Mae Whaler and Lucinda Robbins.
He is survived by his wife Patsy of the home, three daughters Laura Lee Thompson of Oil Springs, Oklahoma, Angela Sue Happy of Oil Springs, Oklahoma and Melissa Snell of Kansas, Oklahoma, and one son, Dallas Thompson of Kansas, Oklahoma. He lives on in his nine grandchildren Derek, Casey, Amanda, Krista, Shecotah, Ryan, Kagan, Llonie and Aaliyah, nine great-grandchildren Aubrey, Ava, Easton, Abilene, Roman, William, Maddie, Hannah and Haven, as well as man y nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
