

SMSgt A. J. Northrup, US Air Force, Retired, 78, of Tallahassee, died Sunday (10/4) at a local nursing home. A native of Sunbright, TN, he came to Tallahassee from Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, New York following his retirement from the Air Force where he served for over 20 years of distinguished service. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. After moving to Tallahassee he became an investigator for the State of Florida Commission on Ethics. A.J. enjoyed working with wood and had been a member of the Woodcrafters Club. He also was a member of the Bee Keepers and an accomplished amateur photographer. He was an organizer and member of the EC-121 Constellation Reunions, and he authored two books, “50 Fallen Stars” and “50 Fallen Stars and Beyond.”
A.J. was one of two remaining siblings from a family which included nine children. He is also preceded in death by a son: Robert L. Survivors include his wife: Mary; son: Alan (Jill) of Warner Robins, GA; daughter-in-law: Helena of Tallahassee; brother: Willard of Sunbright, TN; grandchildren: Michelle, Jennie White, Luke, Jared, Hope; and great-granddaughter: Addison Grace White.
