Albert Clinton Hartsfield went home to his Lord and Savior on May 22, 2016. Born September 23, 1922 in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Albert and Maud Boatright Hartsfield, he was a fourth generation Tallahassean. He graduated from Leon High School and subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Corps in 1943. He served in Tripoli during World War II and when he returned home, enrolled at Florida State University under the GI Bill. After graduating in 1951, he married the love of his life, Thelma Jenkins Hartsfield on June 14, 1952 at First Baptist Church. They were married for 62 years until her death in 2014. Together, they were faithful members and contributors to First Baptist Church and he was a member of the Roy Rhodes Sunday School Class. They raised their three sons fully in the life of the church.
He was a member of the greatest generation, faithfully serving his Lord, family and country. First and foremost; he was a wise, loving and devoted husband and father. He devoted his life to his wife and three sons, always putting the well-being of his family first. He lived his life with honor and integrity; believing in the value of hard work, treating others with kindness, and loving sacrificially. He worked for the State of Florida in the Department of Education most of his career.
He is survived by his sons Ron (Sally), Brent and Phil (Julie); grandson Clint; granddaughters Erin, Allison, Catherine, Caroline, and Anna Beth. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Maud Boatright Hartsfield; three brothers Leo, Roy and Earl; and one sister, Nina.
