Ann was born in Orlando, Florida on July 16, 1937 and graduated from Edgewater High School where she met the love of her life, Henry, at a High School Sorority meeting. After attending Converse College for a year, she and Henry married on August 17, 1956 upon his graduation from the Citadel. They lived in Orlando, Florida before moving to Tallahassee, Florida in 1957.
Ann was an active member of Faith Presbyterian from 1957-2016, where she was a circle leader with the Presbyterian women, taught Sunday School and VBS and was a greeter on Sunday morning with Henry. She became a member of Trinity United Methodist in 2017. Ann was a proud member of the Tallahassee Junior League, holding several office positions throughout her years in the League. Her love for books led her to be named chairman of the Leon County Library Board where she facilitated the libraries move to the Northwood Mall. Leon County Schools benefited throughout her children’s education as Ann was a hands-on volunteer at each of their schools. Ann was Chairman of the TMH Volunteer Coordination Committee for the Golden Gala III. As a close friend said, “Ann made everything beautiful, beautiful gardens, beautiful food, beautiful home, and beautiful gatherings for friends.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie T. Page and Mary Howard Page, of Orlando, Florida. She leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years Henry George Hanson Jr; her daughters, Tracy Hanson Haley (Chris), Katherine Hanson, Carrah Hanson Whitaker (Mark); her cherished grandchildren, Lauren Dennis Roderick (Chad), Ashley Dennis Smith (Gary), Kathryn Haley Hall (Jimmie), Hunter Hanson Whitaker (AnnaMarie), Thomas Henry Whitaker; and four great grandchildren: River Roderick, Davis, Walker, and John Wesley Smith.
