She was born in Yoakum, Texas on August 3, 1925 to Edison and Marie Emerson. She moved to Houston, Texas after high school and worked at Abramson Jewelers until she met and married Harlie B. Johnson who was an Air Force Glider Pilot stationed at the local air base. They were married December 15, 1945 following World War II. They spent the next 23 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1968 to make Tallahassee their home.
Ann is survived by her husband of 65 years, Major Harlie B. Johnson, (USAF, Ret), daughters; Dr. Harlien Johnson and Lee Ann Jacobs (Eldon), her sister, June Beadle (David Williamson), all of Tallahassee.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 pm Friday, August 12, 2011 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Silent Wings Museum, 6202 N I-27, Lubbock, TX 79403.
