Aurelio Andres Fernandez

Aurelio was a devoted husband, father, grandfather. He survived by his wife of 59 years, Thereslee Daigle Fernandez; his daughter, Andrea Fernandez Goddard (Robert “Brian” Goddard); and his granddaughter, Mackenzie Goddard Storm (Adam Storm).

Aurelio was born July 28, 1941 in Tampa Florida to Jose Fernandez and Mary Cimino, and was the younger brother to Joe Fernandez and Mary Lou Fernandez Wendt whom both have passed. On February 4, 1967, he married the love of his life, Thereslee Dorothy Daigle, and they welcomed their only child into the world, Andrea Therese Fernandez, on June 17, 1971. Later, they became grandparents to their only grandchild, Mackenzie Lauren Goddard, on July 19, 2000.

Aurelio spent most of his life in Miami, Florida working in the machine shops for Eastern Airlines and Carnival Airlines. After moving to Tallahassee in 2002 to be closer to family, he continued to stay active and work as a custodian at Astoria Park Elementary and W. T. Moore Elementary.

He had many hobbies and passions. He loved woodworking, photography, playing the guitar, fishing, traveling, and, perhaps most of all, cooking. Cooking was one of the ways Aurelio showed his love for others. Those who knew him well understood one simple thing: if Aurelio liked you, you knew it—because he cooked for you. Sharing food with family and friends brought him great joy.

Aurelio will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of family, and the many meals, memories, photographs, and stories he left behind. Those who knew him loved him, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A remembrance gathering is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Timberlane Road.
