Barbara A. Davenport, 74, of Tallahassee, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Born on June 23, 1944 in Parkersburg, West Virginia; she was the daughter of the late Clyde E. Stephens and Nelma Kathryn Byrd Stephens. Barbara enjoyed a career as a service desk manager with the State of Florida. She enjoyed computers and loved working on them. In addition to computers, she adored cats and never missed an episode of NCIS. She was a West Virginia Farm Girl who loved the color red and never turned down a slice of key lime pie.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 26 years, Herman R. Davenport, Jr. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Taylor and her husband Jeff of Tallahassee; as well as two sons, Carl Thornburg and his wife Nancy of Boca Raton, Florida and David Thornburg and his wife Robin of Alexandra, Virginia.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Candace Nicole Thornburg of Tampa, FL; Veronica Taylor, Kyra Grove, Logan Parker and two step grandchildren Elizabeth Taylor and Kaelib Taylor, all of Tallahassee. Additional survivors include three sisters, Martha Whited, Debbie Smarr and Kathy Lovett, and one brother, Doug Stephens, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 1200 Church, 1200 West Tharpe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303. A Reception to follow the memorial service.
