Betty Jane Blackwood

Betty Jane Blackwood, age 87, of Elwood, Indiana passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at River Chase Hospice and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy, Florida after an extended illness. She was born August 29, 1933 in Summertown, Tennessee to Vincent and Ada Buie.

Jane was a wonderful mother and was very close to all of her children. She greatly enjoyed spending her time doing things with all of them. She worked for the McDonald's Corporation for many years and was a housekeeper for Westminister Village in Oakland, Indiana, until she retired in 2000 and moved to Elwood, Indiana. Due to Illness, she moved to Havana, Florida in 2020 to live with her daughter, Kathie until her passing. Jane enjoyed going on day road trips with her son Larry, fishing, working on her flowers and shopping for candles.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Kathie (John) Tuck of Havana, Florida; son, Larry Blackwood of Elwood, Indiana; five grandchildren: Neanessa of Tennessee, Shaine of California, Dori of Tallahassee, Florida, Brandi (Michael) of Portland, Oregon and Matt (Katie) of Hickory, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren Autumn, Alex and Haley; sisters, Jean (Harold) Benson of Kokomo, Indiana and Fran Mullins of Hartford City, Indiana; brother, Jack (Beth) Buie of Russiaville, Indiana; and several nieces, grand nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Ada Buie; husband, Floyd; son, Randy; daughter, Wanda; brother-in-law, Ben; and son-in-law, Roberto.

Memorial services celebrating Jane's life will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Friday, August 6th, 2021 at Elm Ridge Chapel Muncie, Indiana with Pastor Michael Duetsch officiating. Visitation is from 4:00 - 5:00 PM, service beginning at 5:00 PM and dinner immediately following at Elm Ridge Chapel (4600 W Kilgore Ave, Muncie, Indiana).
