
Betty Jean Lacey Ellis, age 89, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026. Born on March 12, 1937, in Moultrie, Georgia, Betty lived a life marked by devotion to family, enduring friendships, meaningful work, and genuine kindness to all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sonny Ellis, with whom she built a beautiful life and family. Together they created a warm and welcoming home centered on love, loyalty, and caring for others.
She was also preceded in death by two of her daughters, Pamela Ellis Phillips and Kimberly Ellis.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Tammy Ellis Suber; her grandchildren, David Ryan Phillips and his spouse, Emily Phillips; Tyler Drew Phillips; Benjamin Ellis Suber; Adelaide (Allie) Lacey Suber Graham and her spouse, Carter Graham; and Nicholas Allen Henson. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Jackson Phillips and newborn, Georgia Munroe Graham.
For her entire adult life, Betty worked in the fine jewelry profession. She had a passion for jewelry and an even greater passion for people. Over the years, she formed countless treasured friendships through her work. Her warmth, knowledge, and sincere interest in others made those moments memorable for so many.
Above all, Betty was a strong, loving, and loyal mother and wife. She gave deeply of herself to her family and created a home filled with comfort and love. Her steady presence and unwavering devotion remain a lasting gift to all of those who loved her.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Betty’s life at a reception on May 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home on Timberlane Road in Tallahassee, Florida.
Betty’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
