Betty Lou Soderholm

On the morning of Tuesday, April 26th, Betty L. Soderholm, beloved daughter of the late Roy M. and Virginia E. Needham, went to be with the Lord and to spend eternity with the love of her life, husband, Paul. At age 93, Betty silently drifted off into a deep sleep to enter her eternal rest, while a patient at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.

Betty was a devoted and active member of Wildwood Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, Florida, where she enjoyed being with people, meeting new friends, and being with old friends. She enjoyed mission work with Meals on Wheels and supporting efforts involved in Wildwood’s clothing mission, Our Father’s Storehouse. In addition, she enjoyed supporting the Senior Center in Tallahassee. Living near Florida State University, Betty made her home a haven to her grandchildren who attended FSU, and always welcomed her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends whenever they could visit. She and husband, Paul, loved to frequently open their home to their church’s pastors for breakfast and holiday dinners, providing a much-needed reprieve from pastoral duties, whenever possible.

Betty is preceded in death by father, Roy M. Needham, mother, Virginia E. Needham, and her husband, Paul. She is survived by her brother, Lloyd Needham and his wife, Jane; three children, daughter, Paula and her husband, Steve Basar, son, Peter Soderholm and his wife, Judy, and daughter, Jan Groh. They, along with seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two nephews, will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida, 32312 on Friday, May 13th from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held at Wildwood Presbyterian Church; 100 Ox Bottom Road, Tallahassee, Florida, 32312 on Saturday, May 14th at 1:00 P.M. Graveside service and a reception will be at Culley’s on Timberlane immediately following the funeral service.
