Bobby was born July 22, 1968, in West Lafayette, Indiana, to Larry and Jeanne Barker. Bobby loved music and was an avid and very talented drummer. He played drums in the Lincoln High School band and then went on to perform with the Uke Jammers, a band of musicians that played at Senior Living facilities and retirement communities bringing the joy of music to senior citizens in the Tallahassee area. Bobby also loved sports, and particularly, his favorite teams, the University of Florida Gators, the Boston Red Sox and Florida State baseball. Win or lose, the Gators, the Red Sox and Seminoles baseball could always count on Bobby’s enthusiastic support every game.
After graduating high school, Bobby worked a few different jobs until he found his true calling at Publix. He was a valued Publix employee for 32 years, winning many awards and recognition and was a favorite of many regular shoppers. He took pride in his work and making sure each customer he encountered had a great shopping experience. He always wore a smile and had a kind word to say to all his colleagues and customers. Bobby never met a stranger, and his friendliness and laughter truly always made shopping a pleasure.
Left to forever cherish Bobby’s memory are his mother, Jeanne; brother, Ted (Rena); nephews Ryan and Easton; and many close friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, March 7 at 2 pm at Culley’s Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida. Memorials and donations in Bobby’s name may be made to Big Bend Hospice.
