

Surrounded by his family and friends Bobby Jack entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida.
Bobby Jack McGuire was born on December 31, 1932 in Oconee County, South Carolina and moved to Tallahassee in 1953. He served his Country in the US Army and the Florida Army National Guard for more than 20 years combined before he retired. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and throughout his military career he served his country in the Airborne Infantry. He had a long outstanding career in Law Enforcement which included the Florida Highway Patrol where he served as a pilot and flight instructor. He also worked for the Tallahassee Police Department as well as the Leon County Sheriff's Department. For many years he was a Superintendent in construction, responsible for building Nursing Homes in the South Eastern region as well as many other buildings in and around the Tallahassee area. He was most notably known for his heroism when he and his son Scott saved a young man's life from a burning vehicle in 2003 on Old Bainbridge Rd in Tallahassee. Bobby Jack was awarded the Carnegie Award later that year, which is one of the highest and most prestigious awards, for his selfless act of putting his life on the line to save another. Bobby Jack was a very enthusiastic, generous and loving man who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph McGuire.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Vivian K. McGuire; sons, Scott McGuire, Bobby Jack McGuire Jr., Michael McGuire and Glenn McGuire; daughters, Peggy Sue Longver, Kim Pringle and Kathy Pringle; grandchildren, Vivian Marie Pringle, Shane McGuire, Jake McGuire, Aftan McGuire, David Lee Wilkie, Nakima Ward, Misty Ward, Savannah Dales, Kadon Smith, Alexis Smith, Michael McGuire, Jordan McGuire and Brittany McGuire; his siblings, brothers, Nicholas McGuire of Tennessee and Michael McGuire of South Carolina; sisters, Treasure Shoemaker of Washington and Clara Turner of South Carolina; as well as several great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his adored poodle Mitzy.
A Visitation will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Timberlane Road Chapel from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday April 19th. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 20th at 1 pm at Culley's MeadowWood Timberlane Road Chapel. The family may receive condolences online at www.culleysmeadowwoodfuneral.com
