Brian Alan Reaves
March 2, 1934 – April 10, 2014
Brian Alan Reaves, 80, USAF, ret., died April 10, 2014 in Tallahassee. Brian was born March 2, 1934 in Montgomery, AL to George and Evelyn (Milton) Reaves. He is a Vietnam War Veteran and served his country for over 21 years in the United States Air Force. Upon retirement he went to work for K-Mart and retired again with over twenty years of employment. Brian fully retired in 2001 from the Florida State Highway Safety Dept. He was a faithful member of the 1st Baptist Church of Tallahassee and New Life Baptist Church of Tallahassee. Brian is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean and his brother and sister, Norman and Emily. Brian is survived by his sons, Richard Reaves of Tallahassee and Ron (Dana) Reaves also of Tallahassee; his daughter, Lisa (Matt) Irwin of Crawfordville; his granddaughter, Kristina Rose Irwin of Crawfordville; his brother, Roy (Hazel) Reaves of Franklin, NC and his very loving friend, Margie Folsom of Tallahassee. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-2 pm at the New Life Baptist Church where funeral services will be held that day at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Life Baptist Church.

Dad you are going to be truly missed as part of my life. In the years we were together we went to great places like Colorado Springs, Colorado. Where we had fun in the snow and looking at Pikes Peak from our front door and going on a trip to see the wonders of Pikes Peak. Then we moved here to stay. I feel I was lead by God to stay at this house to be by your side when mother became sick and went to heaven to be with mom and pop and are heavenly father. And until the time you developed physical problems and until your untimely death. I will always cherish the last time I leaned over to hug you good bye and you gave me a gentle kiss on the cheek. I now feel it was your way of saying your were ready to go and be with mother and also to be with your mother, your brother Norman and sister Emily. I will look forward to seeing all of you in Heaven one day. Love you DAD from your first born child.

Heart felt condolences to all of Brian's family. We worked together at HQ Warehouse in the early 90's, and worked at different Lowe's stores after that. He was a great guy and will truly be missed.

Brian was a most loved and respected man by our entire family. Without a doubt God sent this man into our sister's life to love and cherish her. Always so kind, loving and the most patient man you can imagine. He truly had a servant's attitude and it showed throughout his life. I remember well the first time I met Brian at our parents home all those years ago. I thought WoW! She did well. A very handsome man with dark wavy hair and a most pleasant personality. They later married and began to think about a family. Along came Richard. And then there was Ronald. I thought what a nice family. Two boys that will be so close but no they had not completed their family. Then came Lisa, that precious little girl that completed their family. The majority of the time the family lived away from Panama City with the Air Force moving them around but we were always excited when we learned they would be coming back for Visit. What some fun times we had with all the children. He was right by our Norma Jean's side to the very end. Always loving and encouraging. God did not want Brian to be alone and spent someone special, Margie into his life. This couple served God along together in their church as long as Brian was able to be active.We are thankful Margie was there for Brian and for his children, as my dad would say,"All the way to glory". He will be missed!

On the day of our dad's funeral I texted my brothers and family this message " Today is a sad day my family for our father is laid to rest. For he suffers no more and he is united with our mother in heaven. To a wonderful father and grandfather who is in our hearts forever. God Bless our dad USAF Tech SGT Brian Alan Reaves". We will miss you dearly dad. We Love You, Richard, Ron, Lisa and Kristina.
