

Buddy was born in Jacksonville at the Naval Air Base and was raised by his parents, Marion and Robert Nelson, alongside his three brothers and two sisters.
Throughout his life, Buddy was known as a hardworking and dependable man. Over the years, he worked as a baker, construction worker, and lineman before building a successful 41-year career as a custom finish carpenter. His craftsmanship, dedication, and strong work ethic earned the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him.
Outside of work, Buddy was an easygoing man who could brighten any room he entered. With a quick joke and warm personality, he had a special gift for turning strangers into friends. He was deeply passionate about the outdoors and spent many of his happiest moments hunting and fishing. His laid-back nature and willingness to help others reminded those around him to appreciate life’s simple joys and never take life too seriously.
He is survived by his son, Robert; his sisters, Sharon and Emily; friends who became brothers, John Hurst and Todd Simpson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Buddy was preceded in death by his daughter, Tabitha; his wife of 34 years, Sherry; his brothers, Robert, James, and Jerome; and his parents, Marion and Robert Nelson.
Buddy will be remembered for his kindness, humor, craftsmanship, and the love he shared so freely with family and friends. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.
A funeral service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, located at 3609 Coastal Highway, Crawfordville, Florida 32327, on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
