Carol Ann Fitzpatrick, a devoted Catholic and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 20, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved her deeply.
Carol was born on November 23, 1941, in Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois, to Blanche and Harold Houdek. Her Catholic faith was an important and enduring part of her life, providing her with strength, comfort, and guidance throughout the years.
Carol shared many wonderful years with her beloved husband, Raymond P. Fitzpatrick, until his passing in 2014. Together, they built a life centered around love and family.
She is preceded in death by her loving sister, Marilyn, and survived by her brothers, David and Kenneth Houdek; as well as her three children, Wendy (Michael) , Steven, and Teresa; her stepchildren, Michael (Angela), Stephen (Stacy), Gwendolyn (Brendan), and Rachael (John); and her eighteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Above all else, Carol treasured her family. Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother brought her tremendous joy, and the time she spent surrounded by those she loved was among the greatest blessings of her life.
Throughout her life, Carol enjoyed playing golf, playing women’s softball, and traveling. She experienced many adventures and visited many places, but home was wherever her family was. The moments spent together—whether celebrating special occasions, traveling, playing sports, or simply enjoying one another’s company—were the ones she valued most.
Carol will be remembered for her devotion to her faith, her love for her family, and the countless memories she created with those fortunate enough to know and love her. Though her absence will be deeply felt, the love she gave will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the generations that follow.
Carol will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery alongside her beloved husband, Raymond.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that the faith Carol carried throughout her life remained with her until the end, and that she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her.
Her greatest joy was her family, her faith was her foundation, and her greatest legacy is the love she leaves behind.
May she rest in eternal peace.
