Born on a farm outside of Cleveland, Ohio on January 12, 1925, she was adopted in 1935 following the death of her mother by her aunt and uncle, Albert and Helen Russon. The family relocated to the Panama Canal Zone, where Carol grew up and lived until she retired. After graduating from Balboa High School, she went to work for the Panama Canal Company, where she worked as an Accountant Clerk in the Commissary, Electrical Division, and the Port Captain Office until her retirement in 1982.
Carol met Joseph Edgar Wright of Toledo, Ohio on a blind date in Colon, Panama, and they were married on May 27, 1947. They had four children and shared 56 happy years together until her husband’s death on October 6, 2003.
Following her retirement, Carol and Joe moved to Toledo in 1982, where she was an active member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church. In 2001, they moved to Tallahassee, Florida to be near their youngest grandchildren. In Tallahassee, Carol was active in Good Shepherd Catholic Church and volunteered for several years at Trinity Catholic School. She enjoyed seeing old friends at Panama Canal Society reunions and loved a good game of cards. She was a much loved mother and grandmother and was happiest simply spending time with her family.
Aside from her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Richard. She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Elisa) Wright of Bloomington, Minnesota and Michael (Kathleen) Wright of Tallahassee, Florida; daughter, Coleen Causey (Robert) of Pinellas Park, Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer Wright (Jans Dykhouse), Katie Wright, Sean Causey (Samantha), Heather Causey Mitchell, Caroline Wright (Caroline Browning), and Charles Wright; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Carol’s life will be held at a later date in Toledo, Ohio, with committal to take place at Calvary Cemetery in Toledo, where Carol will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
