Born on January 22, 1934 in Thomaston, GA; she was the second child of the late John and Mary Jones.
Caroline received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in Chemistry and was one of the first co-ed graduating classes.
Caroline spent 18 years as a teacher. She taught a variety of subjects including science, math, computer programming, and Spanish. She taught a range of ages during her career. Her last 11 years were as a teacher at Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee primarily teaching math.
She married James Barringer (deceased) and had four children: James Jr., Luke (deceased), Caroline (spouse - Chris), and Rachel (spouse - Joseph). She has four grandchildren - Jessica (spouse - Roger), Sierra (spouse- Matthew), Savannah, and Jonathon. She also was a great-grandmother with two great grandchildren - Sophia and Lachlan. A third great-grandchild is due in May. She is survived by her younger brother James (spouse - Mary Ellen, deceased) and her younger sister Edwina (spouse - Ronald, deceased). She was preceded in death by her older brother John Jr. Caroline is further survived by nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial for Caroline and Luke will be held at 1:30pm on January 27 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Rd, Tallahassee, FL.
Burial for Caroline will be on January 27, 2024 after the memorial service.
