Dr. Cayetano Garcia Santos

He was born on December 2, 1938, in the Bulacan Province of the Philippines to Vicente Santos and Socorro Garcia. He graduated from Manila Central University in 1963. He was a Senior Resident Physician in the Department of Surgery at Baguio City General Hospital where he met his wife, Dr. Petita Santos. In 1974, they moved to the United States where he began working as a psychiatrist. From 1974-1983, he worked at Western Mental Health Institute in Bolivar, Tennessee and from 1983-2004, at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida.

Cayetano attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a member of the Big Bend Filipino American Association. He enjoyed watching NBA basketball, playing mahjong, and writing poetry in his native language of Tagalog.

Cayetano was preceded in death by his wife, Petita Santos, of 51 years. He is survived by his sons, Cayetano Santos Jr. (Martha Barillas) of Maryland and C.P. Santos of Colorado; his sister, Leonor Donato of Florida; and his grandson, Christian G. Santos of Maryland.He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and the Philippines.

In honor of his request, there will be no service or viewing. His ashes along with those of his wife will be laid to rest at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
