

We find comfort in celebrating a life that was lived with purpose, laughter, a sense of wit and kindness, and a great love for his family and friends.
Born January 30th, 1932, in St. Petersburg, Florida to Lewis and Katherine Deal.
After graduating from St. Petersburg high school in 1949, he attained his bachelor’s degree and certifications in the practice of pharmacy in 1953 from the University of Florida. Charles then served in the United States Army for almost eight years (8th Infantry Division, Med. Co., 13th Inf. Reg.).
Charles then attended University of Miami and earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1969, Diplomate of Medical Examiners in 1970 and Certificate of Anesthesiology in 1973.
Raised in Florida, Dr. Charles developed a love for the outdoors and played golf regularly. He was a passionate sports fan, proudly cheered on the Gators. Dr. Charles also had immense love for his many dogs, enjoyed driving his orange Porsche and weekend getaways to the beach.
Dr. Charles was preceded in death by both parents; his four siblings, Lewis, John, Frances, and Barbara Jean; his first wife Loretta, and second wife Maxine.
Dr. Charles is survived by his son’s Charles Raymond Deal, Jr. and James Michael Deal, his life partner Judy Mathews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, 2015 Fleischmann Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308, on July 21, 2026, at 11:00 am.
