Charles served in the U.S. Military. While stationed near Oxford, England he met and married his beautiful bride, Shirley Evelyn-Gray Johnson who was a devoted wife for 67 years.
In 1958, Charles began Johnson House Movers while working at St Joe Paper Mill. Apart from house moving, Charles enjoyed spending time with family. He loved to go fishing and was a lifetime member of Tallahassee Hawg Hunters Bass Club. He was also an avid Deer Hunter and enjoyed working in his garden.
Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley E. Johnson; daughter, Sharon Elsberry (Jimmy); Sons Calvin & Collin (Lisa); Grandchildren, Eric, Dean, Julie and Caleb.
He is also survived by his Brothers, Calvin H (Charlene), Clarence Edward (Yvonne), Curtis Alvin (Windell), Cliffton (d-Linda), Carl Edward “Bud” (Shirley) Clarence Wayne (Carolyn E) and Clyde Bruce (Wilma); Sisters, Bertha Clayton (d-Robert), Dollie “Dimple” Poloronis (d-Pete), Eulene Traurig (d-Don), Cora Lee “Susie” Hutto (Hayward), Eula Jane Dykes (Billy) and Sybil Cloud (Donnie Flower) as well as his loving step-mother Eula Jeanette Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends who loved Charles.
He is predeceased by Charles “Ducky” (Carolyn R), Clifford “Blondie” (Linda), Carlis (d-Betty) and Cleve (d-Flow)
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11am est. at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee. Burial with Military Honors will be Monday afternoon beginning at 2pm est. at the Johnson Family Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL.
