Charles Myers Jones

Charles was born on December 28, 1956, in Coral Gables, Florida, to Charles Albert Jones and Marian Myers Jones. The youngest of four children, two surviving, Charles grew up in Miami Springs alongside his older brother, Fred Fordice Jones. His father's family had deep roots in northern Florida, with generations tied to the family ranch in Tallahassee dating back to the 1800s. Charles spent many boyhood summers at the ranch, learning agriculture, animal husbandry, hunting, and fishing.

Charles graduated from Miami Springs Senior High School before earning his Associate Degree from Miami-Dade Community College. He attended Florida State University, splitting his time between his studies and helping on the family ranch, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 1980. He continued his education at Florida State University College of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in May 1986 and being admitted to the Florida Bar on April 2, 1987.

In 1985, Charles married his college sweetheart, Tina Baptista Jones, at Miami Springs Baptist Church. Their marriage would span 40 years and 10 months and welcomed three beautiful children, Charles Edward Baptista Jones, Monica Elizabeth Baptista Jones, and Christina Isabella Jones.

Charles began his legal career at the firm of Padgett, Teasley, Niles & Shaw before founding his own practice, Charles M. Jones, P.A., in 1991. Over a 39-year legal career, he built a respected reputation practicing real estate law throughout Greater Miami, Coral Gables, and Miami Springs area, known by clients and colleagues alike for his honesty, attention to detail, and genuine care.

Always a hard worker and efficient with his time, Charles would visit Orlando regularly for his Continuing Legal Education as he continued to grow his law practice. This yearly endeavor would end up turning work requirements into a cherished family tradition of visiting Disney World and spending quality time together with his wife and three children.

When not growing his law practice or maintaining the family ranch, Charles would always yearn to be on the water, boating and fishing off the Florida coast. Many of his fondest memories came from fishing the deep blue waters of Biscayne Bay with his family and friends.

Even while building his law practice and raising a family, Charles remained devoted to the family ranch and his family’s legacy in Tallahassee. He spent many days carving out fence lines deep in the piney woods, mowing fields on his John Deere tractor, raising herds of cattle, and tending to the land he loved. He cherished teaching his children to garden, fish, and hunt, and found lasting joy in life on the ranch.

Charles always faced adversity with courage, optimism, humor, and unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He passed away at home, in Tallahassee, surrounded by loved ones, on the family farm he loved so dearly.

Charles is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tina, and his three children, Charles Edward, Monica Elizabeth, and Christina Isabella.

Charles will be remembered for his determination, resilience, and the hope he carried even in life's darkest moments. Above all, he will be remembered and honored for the deep love he held for his wife and children.
