

Charles Leslie Oxendine went home to be with his Lord our God at 5:40 pm, December 22, 2015, after sudden complications related to a routine surgical procedure. Charles was born August 22, 1938, in Marianna, Florida and was a long time resident of the Tallahassee area. Following his graduation from Leon High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and then as a communications officer and diplomat in the Foreign Service for a total of 35 years. While in Germany on assignment he met Barbara, his wife and lifelong partner with whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage. Following his retirement from the Foreign Service he returned to Tallahassee and dedicated his efforts to managing properties, researching the Oxendine family history, and giving back to the community.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Oxendine; son, Robert Oxendine, daughter-in-law Lesley Oxendine; brother, Don Oxendine; six grandchildren, Brandon and Alexandra Oxendine; Matthew, Barbara, Jesse and Amber Stephens, three great grandchildren, and the family dog.
Visitation with the immediate family will begin at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 29, at the Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Charles may be made to the Faith Deliverance Pentecostal Church, 1139 Kissimmee Street, Tallahassee, FL 32310.
