Charles Eugene Rentz of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida on August 25, 2022.
Mr. Rentz was born on September 14, 1937, to the late Charlie Rentz and Zelma Griffin Rentz, and grew up in Lenox, Georgia.
He graduated from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, and honorably served in the National Guard. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he enjoyed his career as a pharmacist until his retirement from Albertson’s Pharmacy in 2011.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Jo Rentz of Tallahassee, FL; his son, Whit Rentz of Cairo, GA; his daughter, Jan (Roy) Glover of LaGrange, GA; his granddaughter, Carissa Rentz of Thomasville, GA; his stepdaughter, Cynthia (Chuck) Hefren of Tallahassee, FL; his stepson, John Bedenbaugh of Tallahassee, FL; his step-granddaughters, Isabella Hefren of Tallahassee, FL and Lacey Bedenbaugh of Port St. Lucie, FL; his step-grandson, Bo Bedenbaugh of Port St. Lucie, FL; and sister-in-law, Patricia Hill Rentz of Moultrie, GA. He is also survived by many loving nephews and their families, who lovingly called him “Uncle Poogie.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the management and staff of Big Bend Hospice House and Culley’s Funeral Home for their efforts and care.
