

Charles Jason Rucker, age 43 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. He was born June 20, 1980 in Daytona Beach, FL to Stephen P. and Donna H. Rucker. He attended New Smyrna Beach High School and later moved to Lamont, FL where he resided during his adult life.
Charles nickname "Node" loved nature and exploring all that God has created. He had an amazing ability and passion to identify different plants, sharing his knowledge on natural healing options. He was a caring soul who always wanted to ensure others were taken care of, including the many animal rescues that found refuge with him. A child at heart with a truly infectious smile. He enjoyed music, playing his guitar and spending time with his family. He was an artist of primitive aboriginal artwork that will be long cherished. Blessed with many talents and gifts, his creativity was also demonstrated in his work as a carpenter which will leave a lasting legacy.
Charles is survived by his mother Donna H. Rucker, brother Phillip (Jessica) Rucker, nephew Kaleb Rucker, niece Haley Rucker, Aunt Sylvia, Uncle Lamar Mann and cousins Heather (Jeremy) Iannarelli, Jacob and Hunter Iannarelli and many Rucker family members in West Virginia. He is also survived by his precious cat Penelope, whom he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father Stephen P. Rucker, maternal grandparents Tate O'Connell and Mabel B. Herring, paternal grandparents Donald "Don" and Donnah Rucker.
Although Charles' time with us was short he will remain a part of our lives forever.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt forms from Lamont Baptist church, Pastor Mark and Angela Holley, HCA Florida Capital Hospital ICU physicians, nurses and staff and Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, FL. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to Lamont Baptist Church, PO Box 188, Lamont, FL 32336 or an animal rescue shelter.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held Saturday 11am, September 2, 2023 at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 North Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174
