Cheryl Ann Stevens, 51, died peacefully at home in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by her beloved family, Saturday, December 10, 2011.Cheryl invested herself completely in her faith, family, and friends. She was the perfect complement to her husband, an ever-encouraging mother to her daughter, an ideal mother-in-law, a warm, supportive, and fun-loving grandmother, faithful sister and aunt, and deeply compassionate and loyal friend. Her radiant spirit will live on and inspire all who knew her. Cheryl earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University. During her life, she taught elementary school in Michigan and Indiana, sang in church choirs, led women's Bible studies, and taught Sunday school. Recently, she joined the St. Andrews Society of Tallahassee and spent a semester exploring Scotland with her husband, Doug. Cheryl and Doug attended St. Peter's Anglican Church in Tallahassee, Florida.Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Larry Dale Evoy, and her mother, Carol Lee (Hinman) Evoy, both of Michigan. She is survived by her beloved husband, Douglas Edwin Stevens of Tallahassee; cherished daughter and son-in-law Heather Lee and Adam David Raymer, a granddaughter who was the light of her life, Samantha Ann Raymer, and a grandson on the way, all of Niskayuna, New York. Two loving sisters, Connie Mae Evoy of Plainwell, Michigan and Lariann Dawn Hortop of Gladwin, Michigan, also survive her. Our deepest thanks to the women of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Wildwood Presbyterian Church, and Westminster Presbyterian Church for their loving care and extended time spent with Cheryl during her recent illness. We also thank Big Bend Hospice for providing quality in-home care so that Cheryl could be resting peacefully at home with her family when she was ready to say goodbye.A service celebrating Cheryl’s life will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 901 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32303, on December 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held in the Parish Hall following the service.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (New York, NY) and Big Bend Hospice (Tallahassee, FL).
