

Christopher L. Merritt, 60, passed away at his home in Tallahassee on September 22, 2012 after a long illness.
He was born to Ivan and Ruth Merritt on February 7, 1952 in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was a graduate of the University of West Florida and received his Master's Degree at Texas A&M University. Chris worked as a transportation planner in N. Miami Beach, Florida, at Beiswenger, Hoch and Associates for 11 years and in Tallahassee at the engineering firm of PBS&J for 18 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the National Parkinson Foundation of North Florida and sang in the Parkinson's Awareness Choir.
He loved fishing and boating and was active in the Organization for Artificial Reefs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; his daughter, Christy Merritt of Tallahassee; his son, Kyle Merritt, of Orlando; his granddaughter, Lorelei Sanders-Merritt of Atlanta; a niece, Olivia Vernon of Washington, DC; a nephew, Patrick Merritt of North Carolina; and a wonderful caregiver, Kimberly McCoy of Tallahassee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, David Merritt and Philip Merritt.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the Timberlane Road Chapel of Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
