Born in New Kensington, PA, she moved to Tallahassee in 1973. She worked at the FSU College of Home Economics; Department of Clothing, Textiles, and Merchandising working her way up to Office Manager and retiring after 28 years of service. Ms. Dalton also worked a second job as a concession manager for the Seminole Boosters at both the football and baseball stadiums.
Ms. Dalton loved volunteering and helping others. She was a Den Mother for her two sons, Troop Leader for her daughter, and Assistant Troop Leader for her granddaughter. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, served on the Girl Scout Board, recipient of the Thanks and Thanks II Badges, member of the Gold Award Committee and mentor to Gold Award prospects, and served on the Girl Scouts 100 Year Anniversary Committee where she cataloged and preserved historic uniforms for the 100th anniversary celebration event. She was also a member of the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Committee and recipient of the 2016 Diamond Award. In addition, Ms. Dalton was a member of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee Catholic Committee on Scouting (TACCOS) and the recipient The Silver Scallop award in 2014 and the St. Anne award in 2020.
On top of all this, Ms. Dalton volunteered as a band parent for nine years at Godby High School; volunteered as a lunch grandparent for six years at Trinity Catholic School and made costumes/volunteered as a stagehand for Sussical, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and the Wizard of Oz; served as a sacristan at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More; and still found time to help many of her aging professors with their needs such as doctor appointments, shopping, etc. She enjoyed helping others with weddings, parties, and other event planning. Ms. Dalton was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was known by friends and family for her wonderful cooking, exceptional cake baking and decorating, and the exemplary life she led.
Ms. Dalton was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Irma Seria. She is survived by her three children, Michael Dalton, George (Laurie Ann) Dalton, and Jennifer (Jay) Svendsen; two brothers, Dr. Joseph (Dian) Seria, and Dr. Leroy (Suzanne) Seria; four grandchildren, Sophia Dalton, Chris (Diew) Svendsen, Ashley Svendsen, and Andrew (Sarah) Svendsen; and two great-granddaughters, Grace and Rose Svendsen; and her former spouse, Chester Mack Dalton.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, October 27, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 1737 Riggins Road, and the Rite of Christian Burial Mass at 2:30pm on Saturday, October 28, at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More followed by interment at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road.
