David was born in Hollywood, FL to loving parents James (Shorty) and Catherine (Howell) Booker on July 11, 1950. Class President of Bainbridge High School (1968), he attended UGA before enlisting in the US Air Force where he earned degrees in Arabic from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA; a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland; and an MBA from Ball State University. He was stationed with the USAF at the Iraklion Air Station in Crete, Greece (1972-1977).
He held a variety of careers, mostly in the fields of Information Technology and was named an honorary Colonel in the Georgia militia for his work with the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce.
David was a complex man with a diversity of talents and passions. Though his life took many turns, David always found himself returning to the natural places that he loved and shared with those around him. If you would like to honor his memory, donations may be made in his name to Ducks Unlimited--an organization David long supported and whose goal is to protect the lands he held dear.
Arrangements under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.
