Dawn was born to the late William and Lovie “Polly” Dyer in Atlanta, GA on November 27, 1954. She moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1960.
Dawn was blessed with a devoted and loving husband of 44 years, Thomas Tatum. Dawn’s greatest joy in life was her entire, extended, family. Dawn loved her family with a ferocity and depth that only a mother could. Dawn did not simply love her family and friends; she took their joys, fears, pains and anguishes as her own. The kindness, understanding, acceptance, support and positivity that Dawn bestowed upon her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as friends had a way of touching someone’s life in a way that left a lasting, indelible mark. Once you knew her, you could never forget her.
While Dawn was an accomplished and respected HR professional by trade, her true passions in her free time were crafts, collecting and cooking for people. Dawn enjoyed cross-stitching, making flower arrangements, making home-made decorations, collecting Boyd Bears, antiques and generally any southern knick-knack that her eyes saw. One of her favorite things to do was to cook for church events, including Tri-State Christian Camp, Men’s Prayer Breakfasts, and Wednesday evening meals.
Dawn is survived by her husband Tommy; her daughter Brandi Babb (married to CJ); her son Brinson Tatum (married to Elizabeth); Six grandchildren: (Brandi) Cameron, Caleb, and Caelan; (Brinson) Samantha, Brinson Jr., and Cooper.
In addition, Dawn is survived by siblings Jane Goodson (married to Johnny), Thomas Dyer, Joy Boggess (married to Roger), and Jody Dyer (married to Lila). Dawn was preceded in death by her brother David Dyer.
