

Dorothy Cook Sirmons, 82, of Tallahassee, passed away March 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 27, 1934 in Okeechobee Florida, she was a retired nursing assistant and a specialist working with children with disabilities. An avid gardener and known for her green thumb, she enjoyed being with her friends and family and also being an active member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, J.M. Cook (and wife Opal) of Pineville, Louisiana; her children, Mary Jane Guertin (Glenn) of Havana; James Morgan "Bo" Sirmons (Beverly Blackburn) of Crawfordville and Betty Jean Figureoa (Ben) of Tempe, AZ, grandchildren, Lauren Young (Joe Martin), Gary Allen Burd, Christina Burd, Brandi Maige (Spencer), David Sirmons (Meagan Kendall), Zach Sirmons-Coons, Braxton Maige and Izabella Maige; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Burd, Hunter Sirmons, Wyatt Martin, Kinsey Young, Justin Sirmons and Tanner Sirmons; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her youngest daughter, Carrie Ann Sirmons Coons and a grandson, Justin Morgan Sirmons. A visitation will be held Monday, March 20th from 6:00-8:00pm at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee. Services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, March 21st at Morningside Baptist Church, Tallahassee. The caring professionals at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home is assisting the Sirmons Family with arrangements.
