
She was born on September 15, 1923, in Sylacauga, AL to Grover Cleveland and Vanira Hamilton. Dorothy retired as a teacher for the Leon County School Corporation in Tallahassee, FL and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Michael Turner and his wife, Connie, of Vincennes, IN; three grandchildren, Chris Turner of Manchester, NH; Scott Turner of Hanover, NH, and Allison Osgood of Quincy, MA; two great grandchildren, Noah and Quinn Turner; and nieces and nephew, Beth Fagan, Francis Flynn, and Dr. Charles Fagan.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred W. Turner, founding president of Tallahassee Community College, and her sister, Martha Fagan.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Rd., in Tallahassee with Rev. Sally Campbell-Evans officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice or Florida United Methodist Children's Home of Enterprise, Florida.
