

She was born on October 5, 1931, the second of identical twins, in Amarillo, Texas. She had attended Texas Tech University and later married Colonel John Q. Wise and spent the next 30 years raising five children traveling as an Air Force wife and mother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Anne Rountree, her husband, Ret. Colonel John Q. Wise, and her identical twin sister, Betty Wattinger.
She is survived by her five children, Beverly Mills of Hickory, North Carolina, James Wise of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Brian Wise of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mary Hayes of Tallahassee and Lisa Wise of Tallahassee, Florida; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was a was a founding member of Saint Peter's Anglican Church, very involved in the Daughters of the King, Altar Guild and Senior Luncheons Press Club. She was very devoted to her church her God her family.
She had a passion for gardening and weeding, whether it was at her beloved beach house in Cape San Blas, her home in Tallahassee, or whenever she came to visit family. You could find her out in the yard, pulling weeds. She never found a weed that she could not pull.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 2pm at Christ Church, 2100 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Big Bend Hospice would be appreciated.
