Douglas grew up in Hosford, Florida. After marrying, he moved to Crawfordville, Florida. He dedicated 41 years of service to the State of Florida, with his final years being with the Florida Department of Transportation (D.O.T.), before retiring.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Bonnie Moore Sikes, of 57 years and his daughters, Dana Sikes and Jill Sikes. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heidi Sikes.
In retirement, Douglas enjoyed antiquing, spending time outdoors, especially kayaking the local rivers and biking the many trails throughout the area.
A small remembrance will be held at the Crawfordville Cemetery on February 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM EST.
